Greetings, Explorers -

 

As The Heart Space Center moves into the final month of it’s FIRST QUARTER of existence, I thank you for diving in with us from the very beginning.

 

Our growth in the first 2 months has been more rapid than I expected. I’m grateful for each Explorer I’ve had the opportunity to work with, the groups I’ve been able to hold space for, and the amazing students who show up to class. In 2 short months, I feel more aligned than ever with this work, and it’s thanks to you❤️

 

About the newsletter (if you’re new here!)

This newsletter is intended to offer a safe, nurturing environment via authentic content to help support you on your journey into The Heart Space Center. Whether you’re working with The Heart Space Center, independently, or with other teachers and healers, we hope you enjoy this virtual space we’ve created with you in mind.

OUR SHIFT


You may have noticed at the top of the newsletter; moving into August marks the last month of The Heart Space Center’s FIRST QUARTER of existence - wow! Time sure does fly when you’re having fun❤️

 

As it’s in it’s very infancy of existence, I’m learning news ways to do things; opportunities to shift our offerings, allowing them to be even more authentic, while ensuring I’m in alignment with what I’m offering, both for our Explorers, and for myself. Lessons my yoga and Somatic Experiencing practices have taught me are to go more with the flow (non-attachment) and practice having healthy boundaries.


And it’s a constant practice, of course!

 

That said, you may notice shifts in the newsletter. As you notice those shifts, join us in embracing that it’s all unfolding just as we trust it’s supposed to.

 

One shift we’d like to point out specifically is that we’re turning our monthly newsletter into a quarterly newsletter. You may receive correspondence from us between newsletters, about popup events, retreats, and more.

 

And always, if you have feedback, need support, or if there’s anything else we can help with, email us anytime!

FALL COLLABORATIONS FOR YOU!

With Fall right around the corner The Heart Space Center has some great breathwork collaborations coming up for you to enjoy! And Fall is an extra juicy time to release and let go of what’s not serving us. Just as the trees shed their leaves, we too can shed what’s not needed - and what better way to do that than through a breathwork journey!

 

Details here for the first confirmed ceremony, and more will come as registration opens for additional sessions. Monthly sessions will be available, all in collaboration with trusted friends, and held, as always, in sacred space.

Friend, Reiki Healer, and Massage Therapist, Hannah Craft, of LightBody Massage, is once again teaming up with The Heart Space Center to offer another special collaborative experience!

 

Every breathwork journey experience we create and offer is different, depending on the season and what we’re feeling called to create, and share. And of course, each individuals’ experience with breathwork varies from session to session. So if you’ve breathed with us before, come join us again…you never know what magic could unfold from your breathwork journey!

 

The benefits of this breathwork

Somatic Breathwork can aid the body to release physical “stuckness” such as tension, stress, emotions, trauma. The three-part breathwork we will be facilitating in these sessions can help with a myriad of items from chronic pain and immune function to anxiety, depression and stress, and insomnia. This practice can help us tap into our creativity, and gives us the ability to access more of our “feel good” hormones which can benefit us holistically; from our physical and mental health to our overall spiritual wellbeing.

Blue Zones: The Power of CommUNITY

In February this year I had a special opportunity to join two dear teachers of mine in my husband’s beautiful homeland of Costa Rica at Reunion, a nonprofit healing center complemented by ancient and modern modalities meant to ignite life. During my time at Reunion I found deep connection over the course of a week with individuals who were mere strangers when I arrived.

 

When I first heard there would be group discussions and activities to “get to know the others”, I gave a huge, inward eye roll. hmph.

 

“I came here to dive deep within…I’m not here to make friends.” Not that I’m opposed to making new friends, but I had spent time and resources to get there, and now I had to “mingle”?…*hmph*

Once the retreat concluded, virtual integration circles were offered, along with check-in emails which included resources and integration suggestions.

 

And that’s where we get to Blue Zones, and the power of community.

 

Check out this 20-minute TedTalk by Dan Buettner, an author, explorer, longevity researcher and public speaker. Reunion shared this talk with attendees in a post-retreat integration email. It covers Blue Zones, goes into some of the science around why community is so important, and the many benefits we can reap through connecting with others, in community.

Yoga Nidra Benefits & Access to the Practice

Nidra in sanskrit translates to “sleep”. They say a 45-minute yoga nidra practice is the equivalent to 2-3 hours of restful and restorative sleep(!!!).

 

It can be truly transformative, and yet, many people have never heard of it, and/or practice it but don’t know much about the science behind it.

 

I offer Yin & Yoga Nidra every Sunday night at Studio Lotus (join me, if you can!). A dear student who regularly comes to practice recently suggested a podcast episode by Dr. Andrew Huberman, Neuroscientist and professor in the Department of Neurobiology at Stanford University’s School of Medicine.

I was excited to hear Dr. Huberman speak on Nidra, and did a bit of searching. I found this great six minute clip from The Tim Ferriss Show, where Dr. Huberman offers an overview on the practice of Yoga Nidra, and the science and benefits behind it. You can check it out here!

It’s that time again, my friends. That heated Presidential election season.

 

Take care of yourself, practice discernment, and take breaks from the news periodically if you can. Stay informed. And vote.

 

It can be an overwhelming time. I was so excited to see Sharon Salzburg, a meditation pioneer, world-renowned teacher, and New York Times bestselling author, is joining with The Shala Yoga House, to offer a 3-part Election Series:

Each session will explore how to remain steady, empowered and action oriented throughout the upcoming election and beyond!

 

What a treat, and so supportive to have resources like this to help us ground, while also making our voices heard by voting in the upcoming election!
